My Mother’s Chocolate Uncooked Cookies

This is a recipe from my childhood and most likely in your repertoire as well, but what a timeless classic and so easy to prepare. You probably have the ingredients in your pantry now. It is a great activity for children as no baking is required.

  • 1/2 lb Butter
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 4 squares Semi-Sweet Chocolate
  • 3 cups Quick Oatmeal
  • 1 cup Walnuts or Pecans (chopped)
  • 1 cup Shredded Coconut
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  1. Melt chocolate, butter, sugar and milk
  2. Boil 1 minute
  3. In a bowl mix oatmeal, nuts and coconut
  4. Pour mixture into dry ingredients and blend
  5. Add vanilla
  6. Spoon onto a wax paper lined cook sheet
  7. Refrigerate until chilled and solid
  8. Best kept in a sealed container in the refrigerator
